Its a shame when your constantly viewed as a 'sister' who is erring and its loving to shun you back into activity - when do they get it that you no longer want that religeon. Is it forever that your condemned as a fallen witness to be shunned? I do think different family's go to different extreme's regarding d'fed. In my family, very little changed - we didnt communicate much before I was booted out, so it feels very similar to me. I do think to not be told that your sister is married is pretty low though. Although it will never feel comfortable to hear things like these, eventually it will become like water off a ducks back.

Huge shock!
by Crumpet ini just got a major shock.
i can't believe the new levels of cruelty possible within families who are jws.. a friend on this board who i've known since i was a baby practically has managed to get me a picture of my little sister who i haven't seen for 8 years - the one who i've mentioned my dad said was working on the bethel quick build team.
the one who i've described my fears that she and my younger sister are staying single until armageddon.

why cant they see how cruel they are??
by Cordelia inwhy just because i am dfed (march) can my family and all the friends ive ever known tell me i am dead to them?.
why have i missed two important family weddings and been told i ruined them coz everyone was upset?.
why if ihave tried to please them and tried once to get reinstated and now finally felt i have to be true to myself have i caused such pain all over again?.

Hi there,
I find the choices presented to you are very difficult when your family are witnesses. Because you have decided you dont agree with things about it enough to want to live your life differently, you're looked on as doing the hurting to the family. For example my daughter had been to the circuit assembly and said my mother had been crying because I wasnt there, (not been going for two years now) I said to my daughter why cant she be happy that I am happy not going? If I went to please her I wouldn't be happy - and thats the dilema if you please others to the detriment of yourself then somethings gotta give. Doing something that makes your unhappy or disagree's with you will boil up inside you with worse consequences.
I think you have to remember what it was like to be a witness - how it was the only right way to live and that the idea of walking away from it is pure madness! Its only when you allowed the binkers off your eyes and started to see the bigger picture that you see its just one of many many alternative's.
Unfortunately I have made some mistakes after being free of the watchtower, mainly due I think because I had little ability to make choices for myself and a severe reaction to wanting to get as far away from that life as possible. I'm glad to be in the knowledge I now hold about it, but its so hard knowing that because you no longer agree with something, you're cut off. I guess our frustration that our loved one's cant see the reality is the same frustration they have toward us from their point of view. Heck at one time we probably wholeheartedly went along with shunning people/friends etc...I know I did I dont think there are any winners in this - you go back they might be happy but you wont be, you dont go back you're happier but they are not. I think its just something we have to learn to live with.

Is repititive imprinting of ideas a primary cult tactic?
by hubert inin a post by syn that lady lee has brought up again, there is this statement by syn.
i could underline my watchtower in 10 minutes, tops, and be sure that all the answers were right.
many esteemed researchers have shown that repetitive imprinting of ideas is a primary cult tactic, and i tend to agree with them.

One thing I never understood was if the Flood and Noah happened then how did the animals get to all the continents?
Also your point about it being few that find the the true faith/religeon/church, is that either there are those that will never find it (never hear about it/ blinded by satan etc) - which sounds a tad unfair to me - or those that will as you claim the witnesses have (and thereby you have), and if you feel it is a narrow road few will find then why do you come here with your poor attitude (yes I know...your not perfect) when you expect many to not want this 'Truth' ? Are you here to just gloat and say we're all doomed to die? Or should you not be showing a Christ like persona and be someone that attracts the meek at heart? Trying in a kindly way to show us your truth? The fact is your breaking your own rules by being here, and you display an attitude which is most unchrist like.

One thing I noticed about my dealings with and being a dub, was that other religeons seemed to be proud of their faith and would talk about going to church in a very open and matter of fact way, but a lot of the witnesses including my wife and family would make sure there was no 'theocratic' evidence to be found when a 'worldly' would come round - strange eh?

'a great crowd, which no man was able to number'
by cyberdyne systems 101 inunless of course your the 'faithful and descreet slave', talking of the fds, how come they use this parable (of the faithful slave) to say they are it when the next few verses shows you can be an evil slave too, showing it is about your attitude, rather than a specific person or people?

Yes good points there M.J. thanks for showing those, i've been on to the Bible Students web site to read more of the 'hidden' history which is fascinating, but also eye opening to a former R & F member.
Also I agree my thought process is rather random right now but appreciate the replies

Well i'm overwhelmed by your welcome's, thank you so much, as for my age i've 34 but i feel emotionally and many other ways a lot younger - whether thats to do with being brought up in 'it' I dont know, but yeah there is so much here to look at and digest here - I guess my reason for leaving was being so unhappy that if it was true I thought i wont ever measure up, I did have doubts over things but suppressed them at the time, now i'm rather jealous reading how so many of you realised the real truth and DA, I wish I had done that now, but still i have been and am still learning what the Witnesses are really about...better late than never eh

DOUBLE STANDARDS FOR DUB DOCTRINES
by Mary ini just thought of something last night and figured i better post it before i forget it (getting alzheimers here) about the double standards that the wts has when it comes to interpreting scriptures.
we all know the story about the last supper and how jesus instituted a new covenant with his disciples.
they all drank the wine and ate the bread as per jesus' instructions and this custom has been passed down for 2,000 years amongst all christians except those unfortunate jehovah's witnesses who weren't baptized before 1935.

I've long thought that the 'christian scriptures' were written to the annointed - in other words christians. Its only when Judge Ratherflawed introduced this other class of inferior earthly christians - the great crowd - that you have to ask what would apply (or wouldn't) to them????

I must admit to a few 'laugh out loud ' moments when reading this - I need a few of those right now! I kinda go with the 'no harm done' theory on this one...
